Guru and Disciple |
||||||||||||||||
| In the East, the most sacred relationship is between the spiritual teacher or Guru and his disciple. The Guru seated on the right is the Mahatma, Master Morya, the teacher of Madame Blavatsky, Helena and Nicholas Roerich, one of the most well known of the Eastern Sages and the author of the Agni Yoga Teachings. The painting is set against the dramatic backdrop of the sacred Nepalese Mountain, Machupuchare, also known as the Fish Tail Mountain. The disciple is approaching his guru in the spirit of solemnity; Master Morya is looking serenely at the distant mountains. 'The composition of the painting is based on a series of triangles. The mountain is a symbol of spiritual heights and attainment.' |
