'I love Film Noir movies. This painting is completely character driven and the narrative is so strong that it couldn’t survive without it but I don’t mind that because the characters are so strong. All thanks goes to my friends who posed once again and put their all into it. The painting was a lot of fun and developed itself as it went along. I got three quarters of the way through another version of this painting (all in black and white) before abandoning it and starting again because the composition wasn’t working. The new design worked so much better that I didn’t have to work very hard at all.'
