'The cinema is a theme I love to work with. Many of my idols in art have portrayed 'the theatre experience' amazingly; Hopper's 'New York Movie' and Walter Sickerts 'The Gallery of the Old Bedford' are just two of my favourites. This painting is a nod to Norman Rockwell's 'After The Prom', an image that also deals with the theme of young love.'

'I wanted to capture the feeling of nervous anticipation, butterflies but above all an innocence in the scene. Compositionally I really tried to include the viewer by having them take the place of the man sat behind the pop corn desk in the foreground. The result, as in 'The Waiting Room'  being that the viewer becomes a part of the scene and stumbles across this snapshot moment.'
